Executive Producer

Julian Assange, currently in house arrest in Britain, joins the cast of characters on "The Simpsons" Sunday evening for the animated show's landmark 500th episode.

The Wikileaks founder, who faces potential extradition to Sweden on sex charges, recorded the cameo for Sunday night's episode over the phone from an undisclosed location, Washington Post reported.

Al Jean, "The Simpsons" executive producer, from Reuters:

"Obviously he's a controversial figure and that was discussed before we agreed to let him do it. But it's a funny cameo and it makes no judgments about the larger case about him."

In Sunday's episode, "At Long Last Leave," Homer and family will be evicted from Springfield and will meet Assange outside town, Thedeadbolt reported.
