Sacha Baron Cohen is going to have to be on his best behavior if he wants to attend this year’s Oscars.

According to the New York Post, representatives of the Academy Awards have told the comedian he cannot come to the ceremony dressed as General Aladeen from his upcoming movie The Dictator

“We have expressed that we don’t feel it’s appropriate it’s appropriate to use our red carpet as a venue for a movie promotional stunt,” said one of the reps. When asked what would happen if Cohen agrees, but shows up to the awards show as the Dictator anyway, the rep only had this to say. “We’ll have to cross that bridge when we get to that.

Cohen is a voting member of the Academy and one of the voices in Martin Scorsese’s film, Hugo, which has been nominated for 11 Oscars. Cohen has yet to comment.

The British funnyman is best known for his 2007 hit, "Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan." To see whether he plays by the rules or breaks them, audiences will have to tune in this Sunday.
