Remember how I said that "The Book of Mormon" would be coming to Los Angeles next fall? Well, before it comes to the Pantages, it's making a stop in Denver, the childhood home of "South Park" creators (and musical writers) Trey Parker and Matt Stone. People were so excited about the winner of nine Tony awards that the entire three-week engagement sold out in five hours! State representative Matt Jones even wrote an open letter to Parker and Stone asking them to extend the musical's engagement in Colorado.

Producers of "American Idiot" were confident in its selling power, as they extended the London run of the show months before it premieres at the Lyric Hammersmith in December and even before tickets go on sale, later this week. The current touring cast have been receiving generally positive reviews in Toronto and Detroit, ahead of their arrival at the Ahmanson on March 13.

In the meantime, tonight, Nick Jonas begins his run as J. Pierrepont Finch, a scheming but charming young man, in "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying" on Broadway. His predecessors in this production, Daniel Radcliffe and Darren Criss, left the show January 1 and 22, respectively. Also joining Jonas on Broadway is Michael Urie ("Ugly Betty") as Bud Frump, the willing beneficiary of nepotism at World Wide Wickets. Watch rehearsal footage of Jonas here.

Broadway got its own TED conference on Monday with TEDxBroadway. The conference focused on the future of Broadway. Read Howard Sherman's live-blog here.

"Rebecca," the musical, which was slated to open this spring, has been pushed back to next spring after difficulties finding funding for the expensive adaptation of Daphne du Maurier's book. However, Alan Menken's "Leap of Faith," starring Raul Esparza, will appear on Broadway this spring, following some modifications to the production seen at the Ahmanson last fall.

Also facing financial woes is the revival of "Follies," which closed on Broadway last weekend. Despite enjoying a run that most people would describe as a success, the show was unable to recoup its initial investment. However, hopes are high for the LA production, which will feature most of the Broadway cast.
