Update (Wednesday 10:58 a.m.): Simmons signed an official letter of intent Wednesday morning, USC announced.

Jordan Simmons, an offensive lineman from Crespi High School in Encino, California, announced Tuesday evening that he will join the USC Trojans, as reported by USCFootball.com's Ryan Abraham.

Listed as a guard, the 6-foot-5, 330-pounder is very versatile and can play tackle as well.

Though USC returns four starters on the offensive line, Simmons is expected to compete for early playing time and eventually, a starting spot.

Simmons is rated as a five-star recruit by Rivals and a four-star prospect by Scout and ESPN. Those same recruiting services list him as the No. 1, No. 4, and No. 7 guard, respectively. Rivals also ranked him as the No. 29 overall prospect.

Simmons, selected to play in the U.S. Army All-American Game, chose the Trojans over Oregon and UCLA.
