Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner doesn't expect to stay on for a second term if President Barack Obama is reelected, he told Bloomberg Television on Wednesday.

"He's not going to ask me to stay on, I'm pretty confident," Geithner said to Bloomberg. "I'm confident he'll be president. But I'm also confident he's going to have the privilege of having another secretary of the Treasury."

Geithner was one of the key players in the government's reaction to the recession, along with former Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson and Federal Reserve chairman Ben Bernanke.

He has previously stated he was considering leaving the department but agreed last August to continue at Obama's request.

He is the final member left of Obama's original economic team.

The Occupy movement has specifically targeted Geithner and he relationship with Wall Street. Much of that spurs from his connection to architecting the Troubled Asset Relief Program, which provided hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars to big banks after the financial crisis.
