What happens when you combine actress Elizabeth Banks , a touch of Will Ferrel’s “Elf,” and the endorsement of Disney? From the look of things, a live-action Tinkerbell movie.

Disney has been working on a few live-action spinoffs for a while now, “Tink” being the first up followed by “Snow and the Seven,” “Cinderella,” and “Maleficent.” Although it has been over a year since the initial announcement and Elizabeth Bank’s role as Tinkerbell was set, there really isn’t much to go off of yet. Banks herself thinks it’s still too early to get hyped up.

“We’re in script stage and everybody is really excited and blah, blah, doesn’t mean anything…it might not even happen,” Banks tells Movie Hole.

When asked about the premise of the movie, Banks continues, “It’s a live action Tinkerbell movie sort of in the vein of “Elf” in which I would play Tinkerbell…Tinkerbell is one of the greatest characters because she’s mischievous and snarky and fun and sexy and jealous and vengeful.”

The earliest draft of the script by Elizabeth Wright Shapiro from “30 Minutes or Less” is now being reworked by veteran Marti Noxon who has a few scripts under her belt with episodes from "Mad Men" and "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" to name a few. The story so far consists of a simple plot, about the famous fairy being kicked out of Never Never Land for various reasons and going on an amazing adventure which will presumably change her mindset and teach her a valuable lesson. But then again, the script is still in development and nothing has been set in stone.

Banks, meanwhile, has not settled down to commit herself until the time is right, finishing up her latest film, “Man on a Ledge” moving on to “Hunger Games” and living her aspirations through producing her own films, starting with upcoming “Pitch Perfect,” a movie about college cappella competition.  A lot is in store for 2012, so be prepared for a bit of pixie dust coming your way.
