At least 18 people were killed and 30 others were wounded Sunday during an explosion at a religious procession in Khanpur, Pakistan.

Shiite Muslims were celebrating the holy day of Chehlum when the explosion occurred.  It happened when the procession neared an electricity pole where a remote operated bomb was planted, according to The Daily Beast.

"There was a loud explosion a few yards from the procession and we all scrambled to get away," Imran Iqbal, who was in the procession, told the Guardian. "Debris was everywhere and a cloud of dust engulfed us. Many people died on the spot."

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
