Marci Siegel and the designers featured in her Los Feliz store, Co-op 28: Handmade & Indie Designs, encourage people to shop locally this holiday season for a myriad of reasons, such as buying unique gifts that are environmentally conscious and that support local artists. Siegel suggests that the experience of shopping in a independent boutique like hers offers a different, warmer shopping experience.

The store specializes in handmade goods made by independent artists and often holds events and gallery openings that foster community among neighborhood residents. Co-op 28 has become known for its unique offerings as well as the design aesthetic of the store itself. The store counter is made of books, the owner's dalmation Pretzel sleeps under a display table,  and Siegel updates her window displays weekly, showcasing her creativity and quirky taste.
