Prince Philip In Hospital After Heart Procedure
"It seems that he probably was having a heart attack Papworth have successfully aborted," Dr. Iqbal Malik, a consultant at Imperial College London told The Telegraph.
"Hopefully he will make a great recovery from this," Malik said. "Despite the fact that he is 90 the chance of him getting on with his life is optimized by having that blocked vessel open."
According to the AP, the palace has refused to say he had a heart attack.
Dr. Allan Schwartz, chief of cardiology at New York-Presbyterian, Columbia University Medical Center, told the AP that coronary stenting is standard procedure both to fend off a heart attack or save a patient already in the midst of one.
Elizabeth, Princess Anne, Prince Edward and Prince Andrew visited Philip Saturday morning. Prince Charles and his wife, Camilla Parker Bowles, visited shortly after.
