More Electro Please: Rave In The New Year
New Year's in California means a night for great parties and great music. The only problem is there are so many choices for which parties you want to go to.
If you are into the electronic dance music scene, then there is no better place to be on New Year's Eve than in the Greater Los Angeles area.
For music festivals, you have a few choices. White Wonderland, which is being thrown by Insomniac Events, is going to be featuring some amazing artists and DJ's like Dada Life, Kaskade, Benny Benassi, Paul Van Dyke, and Steve Angello.
White Wonderland is going to be a 21+ event with a strict all-white dress code. Do not let that stop you though, Insomniac is known for throwing great events like Beyond Wonderland and Escape From Wonderland. For an in-depth preview of White Wonderland and the artists who you will see there, check it out here. To buy tickets, go here.
Another option is Together As One (known as TAO), by Go Ventures. Go Ventures has been having a tough time lately. Last year's Together as One was not a success. Massive lines to get into the event–this writer took three hours to get into the festival last year-as well as numerous arrests and a large amount of emergency hospitalizations all marred what should have been a great night.
The clubs in L.A. will also be celebrating the new year with dance. The Music Box will be having Fedde Le Grand as their headlining DJ. Fedde Le Grand has been blowing up lately with his single ”So Much Love,” and has been seen touring the world promoting that love. Tickets for Fedde Le Grand at the Music Box are available here.
Highly acclaimed DJ, producer, and actor John Digweed will be welcoming in 2012 to the crowds at the Avalon in Hollywood. Tickets for the Avalon are available here.
If you are going to be in the San Diego area, there is only one place where you should be. Presented by Life Everyday, OMFG Festival is guaranteed to be an amazing night. The 17-year-old French producer/DJ Madeon (recognizable most from this video) will be making his first-ever appearance in California. Also, other amazing DJ's such as Porter Robinson and R3hab will be playing. For a full preview of LED's OMFG Festival, please check it out here. Tickets are sold here.
If you are going to be in NorCal area, you have two choices: Countdown at the Alameda County Fairgrounds in Pleasanton and the Ruby Skye in San Francisco.
Countdown in Pleasanton is estimated to reach 20,000 fans, and is featuring such artists as Cosmic Gate, Diplo, Sidney Samson and Wippenberg. Countdown is going to have three different stages. From Cosmic Gate and Wippenberg, there'll some amazing trance music. From Diplo and Sidney Samson, there'll be some great music that is sure to keep the party rocking. If you think Countdown is for you, tickets are on sale here.
If you're in Northern California for New Year's Eve but a music festival is not your scene, then maybe a club would be better. The Ruby Skye club in San Francisco is bringing in the New Year with Cedric Gervais. Gervais is known for his talents as both a DJ as well as a producer. The Ruby Skye is also a great club venue, one of the best clubs in the US. Tickets for the night are available here.
