The photo shoot is inspired by Marilyn Monroe’s Playboy spread that helped launch her career and status as a sex symbol.

Lohan’s cover was supposed to be revealed on the Ellen DeGeneres Show December 15. Hugh Hefner, however, recently tweeted, “Because of the interest & the Internet leak, we're releasing the Lindsay Lohan issue early.”

Hefner is not happy with the leaked photo. According to TMZ, Playboy invested “a TON of money into the spread.” For beginners, Lohan was rumored to receive a payday of one million dollars.

The publication even printed out thousands of extra copies in anticipation of huge demand.

Hefner assures the spread and issue will be worth it. He tweeted, “Her issue goes on sale late next week. Hot. Hot. Hot. The issue will make the perfect Christmas issue for men in your life--father, son, husband, boyfriend, whoever.”
