Boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. was sentenced Wednesday to 90 days in jail after pleading guilty to a reduced battery domestic violence charge and no contest to two harassment charges, the Associated Press reported.

Mayweather, 34, will serve the sentence in a Las Vegas jail and must also complete 100 hours of community service and pay a $2,500 fine.

The plea deal avoids trial on felony allegations that Mayweather hit his ex-girlfriend, Josie Harris, and threatened two of their children during a September 2010 argument. The children are ages 9 and 10.

"He just continually gets himself into trouble and he is able to get himself out of it as well," said prosecutor Lisa Luzaich. "Essentially it is because he is who he is and is able to get away with everything. The only thing that's going to get this man's attention is incarceration."

The undefeated boxer must report to the Clark County jail Jan. 6.

Justice of the Peace Melissa Saragosa said she was swayed by Mayweather's admission that he hit Harris and twisted her arm, and that two of their children witnessed the attack.

Clark County Court spokeswoman Mary Ann Price told the Los Angeles Times that Mayweather will likely spend about 65 days in custody based on receiving 22 days of "good-time [behavior] credit," in addition to three days of credit for time served.

Mayweather would be released March 11 with that timeline. According to the Los Angeles Times, this may cause a problem in his work schedule - Mayweather had reserved the MGM Grand in Las Vegas May 5, anticipating a fight with Manny Pacquiao. Mayweather typically requires eight weeks of training.

Negotiations have not been set for the fight. Pacquiao's promoter, Bob Arum, has said he is considering a June fight on the Las Vegas Strip.
