Daily Hollywood – A New Disney Princess, Russell Brand Does Animation, and More

Disney fans, get ready for another princess character. Princess Sofia will have her own TV show, Sofia the First, as well as feature films in the future. Nice to know that Disney’s bucking antiquated gender stereotypes—wait. (EW)

In the current trend of turning movies into musicals (Spider-Man, the proposed but failed Bring It On), the next one up appears to be Austin Powers. Mike Myers is in talks with Casey Nicholaw, the co-director of the critical hit The Book of Mormon, to turn his iconic film role into a musical. The show will be a prequel to all of Myers’ subsequent films. (The Hollywood Reporter)

File this under “what”: Russell Brand is in talks to create his own animated series. While creation credit would be shared by two of the scribes behind Bob’s Burgers, it’s safe to say that whatever comes out of this collaboration will be interesting. (Vulture)

Nick Cave fans may know him mostly for his Bad Seeds band (their track “O Children” was featured in the seventh Harry Potter movie), but he also had another band, Grinderman. Alas, the group is no more, with Cave telling an audience of 12,000 in Australia, “It’s over…” (The Guardian UK

Perhaps this is an act of divine retribution: the Paradise Lost film that featured Bradley Cooper and Camilla Belle has been postponed. The film was due to begin production this upcoming January, but is being reworked for budget issues. (Deadline)
