Unless you’ve been living under a rock or didn’t see his name trending on twitter, the biggest news in hockey, maybe in sports, is that Sidney Crosby is finally back. And boy did he make his return known.

After months of speculation on when he would actually make his return, the answer is Nov. 21 against the New York Islanders, where he scored two goals and had two assists.  He has notched 11 points in just five games. Here’s to a great season ahead of him.

 Injuries

-Flyers defenseman Chris Pronger underwent knee surgery on Nov. 29 and will miss four weeks while he recovers.

-Goalie Kari Lehtonen, 28, of the Dallas Stars has been placed on the IR list after suffering a lower body injury during the Nov. 26 game against the Phoenix Coyotes.

-Detroit Red Wings right winger Patrick Eaves took a slap shot to his right ear during the third period of the Nov. 26 game.

-Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Mike Komisarek has broken his arm after a puck hit him while he was trying to block a shot.  It occurred during the Nov. 17 game against the Nashville Predators, which Toronto lost 1-4.  After surgery, Komisarek will be out for two months.

-Evgeni Nabokov, goalie for the New York Islanders, left with a lower body injury during the first period of the Nov. 17 games against the Montreal Canadiens.  Nabakov could have suffered from a groin injury, as reported by MSG Plus.

-Vancouver Canucks goalie Roberto Luongo is out with an upper body injury after playing against the New York Islanders during Nov. 13.  It is unclear what is his injury but he did take a puck that hit his mask directly between the eyes.

Suspensions

-Montreal Canadiens left winger Max Pacioretty has been suspended for three games for his hit on Pittsburgh Penguins Kris Letang on Nov. 26.

-James Neal, left winger for the Pittsburgh Penguins, has been fined $2,500 after high-sticking P.K. Subban of the Montreal Canadiens during the Nov. 26 game.

-New York Rangers center Andre Deveaux has been suspended for three games after he illegally checked Florida Panthers forward in the head during the Nov. 23 game.  Deveaux will forfeit $8, 513.52 and will be eligible for the Rangers vs. Carolina Hurricanes on Dec. 1.

-Drew Doughty of the Los Angeles Kings has been fined $2,500 for cross-checking St. Louis Blues center T.J. Oshie during the Nov.22 game.

-Ryane Clowe has also been fined for $2,500 for slashing Dallas Stars defenseman Stephane Robidas during the Nov. 19 game.

-Another player, Buffalo Sabres forward Patrick Kaleta, has been fined $2,500 for high sticking Derek Morris of the Phoenix Coyotes during the Nov. 19 game.

Contracts

-Phoenix Coyotes has re-signed forward Kyle Turris to a two-year $2.8 million contract, according to TSN’s Darren Dreger.  Turris agreed to the contract after missing training camp and the first 19 games of the season.
