The yearlong drought in Texas as shrank one of Texas's largest lakes, Lake Buchanan in the small town of Bluffton Texas exposing graves normally covered by over 20 feet of water.

Receding lakes have reveled a prehistoric skull, ancient tools, fossils and as small cemetery that appears to contain the graves of freed slaves. Some of the discoverers have attracted interest from local historians, and looters also have scavenged for pieces of history. More than two dozen arrested at one site.

One grave site according the International Business Times is thought to be full of freed slaves.

Most people didn't realize what history lied beneath the lakes.

According to CBS7 in Texas, this has been the driest year for Texas, and water levels for many lakes have dropped more than a dozen feet.
