Evangelist Billy Graham is in a North Carolina hospital for observation and treatment of possible pneumonia, MSNBC reported.

Graham, 93, is at Mission Hospital in Asheville, N.C., near his Montreat home, according to a news release. He was suffering from congestion, a cough and a slight fever, his spokesman told the Associated Press.

"Upon admittance, he was alert, smiling and waving at hospital staff," the release read. "Mr. Graham's personal physician, Lucian Rice, M.D., said that Mr. Graham's condition is stable."

Graham led a worldwide crusade-based ministry for six decades, the AP reported. He was an adviser to every U.S. president since Harry Truman.

He was also hospitalized in May for five days for pneumonia. The preacher has spent most of his recent years at home.
