Occupy LA: Police Maintain Peace, Slowly Move Protesters Off Streets

UPDATE 5:06 AM PST:

Nearly five hours after Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa's 12:01 AM deadline for the Occupy Los Angeles encampment to disperse, demonstrators continue to protest in City Hall Park and on surrounding streets.

To combat the spilling of Occupy LA protesters from the City Hall Park into the streets, the LAPD -- led by Commander Andrew Smith -- has slowly and systematically encircled Occupy LA revelers at 1st and Spring in downtown Los Angeles.

Police presence was minimal prior to the passing of the 12:01 AM deadline.
