Police in riot gear, complete with pepper spray and batons they were not reluctant to use, raided the park, evicted protestors and destroyed their personal property, possibly threw away all 5,000 books in the OWS library, and refused the press access to the camp.

Neon Tommy reports:

"Protesters were ‘tear-gassed, arrested and wrestled to the ground’ before being dragged away, according to occupiers working the broadcast.

"'This is not the end! This is not the end!’ protesters chanted as police stood surrounding the camp, from which occupiers refused to move."

According to Think Progress, a video of the raid showed police surrounding and blocking the roads leading to the camp, destroying tents, and protestors marching on Wall Street.

Police are refusing to let protestors back onto the park, even though a judge issued a temporary restraining order “directing that occupiers be allowed back on the premises with their belongings.”

Think Progress reports:

"A judge has ruled that Bloomberg cannot lawfully evict protesters from Zuccotti Park and has issued a temporary restraining order against New York City. The order allows the protesters to return to the park until after a hearing on the matter today at 11:30 a.m. In a news conference, Bloomberg said it was his intention to open the park at 8 a.m. this morning but that, as a result of the restraining order (and contravening it), he will keep the park closed until the hearing…Bloomberg added, ‘It’s our considered judgment that the best course of action is to leave it closed’ in the event that ‘the judge changes her mind.'"

This week is the two-month anniversary of the Occupy Wall Street origin of the 99 percent movement. At such a time of commemoration, the raid serves as a reminder that the fight to reclaim American democracy for the people is long from over. The voices of the people cannot be suppressed – they have a right to speak, and police brutality will do nothing but strengthen their voices.
