The stars were bright in Los Angeles Saturday night as celebrities flocked to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art for their inaugural Art and Film Gala. As stated by Vogue, the event brought about a collision of worlds, bringing the industries of Hollywood, art and fashion together for a black-tie affair. Hosted by designer Eva Chow and actor Leonardo DiCaprio, the gala honored two of the most revered men of their trade: John Baldessari and Clint Eastwood.

Reese Witherspoon, a longtime friend of Eastwood, said, “He’s one of the most influential artists of our time, not only does he write, he directs, he stars, he also scores his own pictures . . . I’m still in awe of him every time I see him.”

A-list celebrities such as Evan Rachel Wood, Camilla Belle, Zoe Saldana, Kate Beckinsale, Olivia Wilde, Amy Adams, Zac Efron, Uma Thurman, Jane Fonda, Drew Barrymore, and Cameron Diaz (and many more) joined designers Christian Louboutin, Alber Albez, and artists such as Ed Ruscha and Cathy Opie.

Many of the female celebs donned outfits by the sponsor of the night, Gucci. From cocktail dresses to floor length gowns, the women sparkled on the red carpet in Gucci’s classic designs, perfect for the theme of the evening.

The diverse guest list mingled with the common respect for Eastwood and the Baldessari, who is admired for his achievements in conceptual art, which often contains film or film stills.

While accepting his award, Baldessari shared an idea that changed his work, when he saw a Van Gogh painting and imagined it as a filmstrip, with images before and after. "It changed the course of my work," he said. "If painting can be a frame of film, why can't film be a frame of a painting? That's what I've been working on."

A hefty $3 million was raised at the event benefiting LACMA and the night of celebration came to a close with an intimate performance by Stevie Wonder.
