GOP Debate Preview: Gingrich Will Try To Hold Lead, Romney Defend Ad

The debate airs live on CNN at 5 p.m. PST from Washington. The focus will be on Iran, which dismissed Western nuclear sanctions on Tuesday, calling them "in vain."
Pakistan, water boarding and foreign aid are also expected to be hot topics.
The latest CNN poll showed the former Speaker of the House with a 4-point edge over Romney.
Gingrich's stock has soared in recent weeks as Herman Cain and Rick Perry have withered in the spotlight.
Romney might also have to answer to a controversial ad his team released Tuesday, the first to attack the president.
The ad deceivingly cuts from a 2008 Obama speech, in which the president said, "Senator McCain's campaign actually said, and I quote, 'If we keep talking about the economy, we're going to lose.'" The Romney ad simply plays, "If we keep talking about the economy, we're going to lose."
The debate tonight will be the 11th of the year for the GOP candidates.
