Californians have turned ordinary hamburgers into a genre of its own with the proliferation of gourmet burgers such as Umami Burger, Cassell's, and most notably Go Burger.

The latter most recently joined the scene with initally a food truck business and rapidly growing into a well-established brand in the trendy Hollywood and Vine area.

Go Burger was featured today on KTLA morning news where Chef Robert Liberato demonstrated how to grill a perfect tailgating burger and dress it up so that it resembles your favorite school.

In honor of the big USC and UCLA game this weekend, he put a twist on his burgers and has dedicated them to each of the schools.

Here are the ingredients within each of the school burgers:

USC (SoCal Trojan)

-Angus Beef Patty

-Thyme Roasted Chantrelle Mushrooms

-Kenter Canyon Farms Wild Baby Arugula

-Monterrey Jack

-Paso olivo Lemon Oil

UCLA (California Cobb)

-Portuguese bun

-6oz Angus Patty

-Double Smoked Bacon

-Point Reyes Blue Cheese

-Avocado

-Lettuce, Tomato, Onion

-Apple Cider/Rosemary Aioli

When asked which of the two burgers he thinks is best, Chef Robert said "I'm gonna leave that to the fans."

Customers are fans and fans are customers. The lines are blurring as gourmet burgers now seem to be part of the everyday California scene.
