Ellen will keep you laughing along in her new book (Hachette Book Group).

Who doesn’t love Ellen DeGeneres? She’s the adorable voice behind the forgetful blue fish Dory, the talent scout that discovered the likes of Charice Pempengco, the first openly gay woman to host the Oscars and not to mention a multi-Emmy-winning daytime television host. 

DeGeneres can do no wrong and the third time is a charm with her book “Seriously…I’m Kidding,” because she’s seriously kidding and it’s seriously funny. 

DeGeneres broke out into mainstream television after her stand-up routine on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson garnered special attention from the late-night host. Since then, she’s been a leading actress in her own sitcom and is now in the eighth year of her widely successful daytime talk show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show. 

Anyone who watches The Ellen Show will recognize the same sweet voiced, life-loving personality come out vibrantly through the words of her book and every chapter is genuinely funny and genuinely Ellen. 

The book unfolds like a comedy routine as DeGeneres takes us through the inner workings of her mind, exploring topics like what being “fashionably late” really means and what it really takes to be a CoverGirl. 

The comedienne also includes some light-hearted wisdom about living life to the fullest, delivering probably the best lines in her book in the chapter appropriately titled, "The Secret of Life---Part Two." She’s a devastatingly beautiful CoverGirl, but true beauty isn’t defined by your mirror. As only DeGeneres can elegantly put it:

“So be who you really are. Embrace who you are. Literally. Hug yourself. Accept who you are. Unless you’re a serial killer.” 

One of the best parts of  “Seriously…I’m Kidding,” is how naturally DeGeneres’ voice comes through. She’s effortlessly funny and true to herself, which makes this book in turn an effortlessly fun read. Her charm is so beguiling that the reader almost forgets that at times she’s quite literally musing about nothing.

Yet, we can forgive her because she is seriously kidding and it’s seriously good. Haven’t we all wondered why people talk on their cell phones while using the restroom? And Haiku really does sound like you’re saying “Hi” to someone named “Ku.” With musings like that, how can anyone help not laughing out loud?
