President Barack Obama’s approval ratings hit a new low this week at 41 percent according to the latest Gallup Poll. That number is down six percentage points from last quarter and is the lowest 11th quarter average posted by a president since Jimmy Carter according to the Los Angeles Times.

The new poll results make Obama’s average approval rating over his entire term at 50 percent.

Gallup Poll results in the 12th and 13th quarter are a good indication of how well a president will perform in a reelection according to AFP.

Political watchers will be interested to see how the recent death of Gaddafi in Libya and Obama’s promise to have all troops in Iraq home by the end of the year will affect the approval numbers.
