Nokia revealed its first Windows Phone at its NokiaWorld conference in London today.

The phone is the company's first smartphone since the Nokia N9, which never reached the United States after its June debut.

The Lumia 800, which Nokia's CEO called "the first real Windows Phone," will be available in Europe and Asia this year for around 580 dollars, PC World reported.

The company plans to introduce a Windows Phone lineup in the U.S. early next year, but they have not said whether the Lumia will be available.

From The New York Times:

The Nokia-Microsoft alliance is a last-chance effort of sorts for both companies to find traction and market share in the critical, fast-growing smartphone business, devices that are rapidly becoming the favored cellphone sold in many markets.

Nokia and Microsoft are being forced play catchup, as Apple, Google and Samsung, the U.S. market leader and largest seller of phones that run Google’s Android operating system, have distanced themselves from Nokia during the software transition.
