Occupy Wall Street protesters received a shot of support from Kanye West and Russell Simmons Monday.  This after police officials reported that the price tag for securing the protest that has now entered its fourth week had reached $1.9 million.

West and Simmons showed up in Zucotti Park to appear on Rev. Al Sharpton’s radio show, which was broadcasting from the demonstration.  The Wall Street protest shows no signs of abating and the “Occupy” movement is gaining ground nationally.

On Monday students in Boston marched to Boston Common calling for an increase in education spending.  In Chicago, protesters caused traffic jams on Michigan Avenue during rush hour.  Police estimated 3,000 people took part in the Windy City.

But the coup d’etat for the “Occupy Chicago” movement was a march on a meeting of the Mortgage Bankers Association.  Some protesters shelled out the more than $2,000 required to attend the event.  MSNBC reports that one protester heckled Wells Fargo Home Mortgage President Michael Heid, asking Heid how he slept at night.

“Occupy” protests continued in Washington D.C., Atlanta and Los Angeles, among other cities.
