We’ve seen Malibu Barbie, Work Out Barbie, Veterinarian Barbie, and so many more. Mattel (the distributors of Barbie) have now partnered with the Japanese-inspired brand “Tokidoki” to create Barbie’s new look.

According to WSET “From her pink hair and tattoo chest and shoulders.

From her bright mini skirt and spiked companion, Tokidoki Barbie is creating controversy…” Mothers are not too impressed by her edgy, new style and one parent even said, “Encouraging children that tattoos are cool is wrong, wrong, wrong. Mattel why not put a cigarette and a beer bottle in her hand while you’re at it!”

Parents are speaking out against the Barbie because they feel it is setting a bad example and sending out the wrong message.

Although the Tokidoki Barbie might be causing some parents unhappiness, Mattel says the doll is not marketed for all audiences. It is being sold as a limited- edition doll at select retail stores.
