Rumors have been spreading about two more additions to the “Transformers” franchise. Variety reported that Hasbro toy company confirmed on Monday that it has talked to Paramount about developing fourth and fifth “Transformers” movies, which may be shot back-to-back. Paramount and Hasbro were reportedly in discussion about development with Steven Spielberg and Michael Bay, who were both executive producers of the franchise. However, Michael Bay, who also directed the first three films, has put down rumors that he is going to continue directing the “Transformers” films.

Bay stated on his official forum, “I am currently not talking to Paramount on T4 and T5 despite reports. I’m looking at a lot of possibilities coming my way right now weighing options.” Bay announced that he is working on a true story crime thriller called “Pain and Gain.”

Another rumor has been shot down concerning the films. Shia Labeouf previously stated that he does not plan on reprising his star role as Sam Witwicky. Action star Jason Stathman was said to be replacing him. Statham denied the rumor. “You know, I don’t know how those things start. You read them. Someone told me about it,” he commented.

Like Disney did with the “Pirates of the Caribbean” films, Hasbro and Paramount want to milk the “Transformers” franchise for all its worth. The most recent film alone brought in over $1 billion at the global box office.
