New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg had a few words this morning for unions that joined the Occupy Wall Street crowd this week, according to Politico and the Village Voice:

“And if you focus for example on driving the banks out of New York City, you know those are our jobs … You can’t have it both ways: If you want jobs you have to assist companies and give them confidence to go and hire people.”

In terms of how the mayor plans to handle the protests that have been ongoing since September 17, he said:

"We are trying to deal with this is a way that doesn't make the problem grow and protects everybody's rights... we're trying to let this -- not 'play out,' that isn't quite the right word, but let them express themselves."

But it appears the occupiers aren't quite finished making their point, or points. In fact, Jewish protesters, like Daniel Sieradski, are choosing to spend Yom Kippur, the holiest day of the Jewish year, right where they are.

On the other coast, response to OccupyLA protests has been a bit different.

Though there have been arrests (for trespassing a Bank of America, according to abcnews.com), the dynamic between the protesters and city officials has been amiable.

According to Occupy LA feeds on Twitter and LA Weekly, the mayor's office even helped out when protesters found themselves in the rain this week:

"The mayor does support Occupy L.A. and the right to peaceful assembly,'' said the mayor's spokesman, according to LA Weekly, who also noted that the mayor's office supplied occupiers with 100 ponchos to ward off the rain.
