One of Hollywood's most popular -- and mysterious -- nightclubs, the Magic Castle, was damaged after an attic fire broke out Monday afternoon, causing the venue to close down for Halloween night, according to their website.

The castle at the foot of the Hollywood Hills has been a staple of the magic community in Los Angeles for decades and is known for its exclusive, members-only gatherings. Their Halloween festivities this week were themed "Inferno in the Magic Castle."

LAFD reported to the scene at 12:35 p.m. on Monday and officials say it took 65 minutes to knock out the blaze. According to local television stations, no one was injured in the fire.

Fire crews said the blaze was contained largely to the attic and walls of the historic venue but that there might be significant water damage.

There is no immediate cause for the blaze, but one source told The Times that maintenance had been done in the building Monday morning.

According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, a fire was reported in the attic of the building at 7001 W. Franklin Avenue after noon. An LAFD spokesman described it as a greater-alarm fire and said crews were on the scene trying to put it out.

Since the announcement that the club will be shutting down for Halloween, another venue, The Comedy Store, offered over Twitter to host the evening's festivities for The Magic Castle. No comment has been made about the fire or the future of tonight's party from the venue.
