The show, which centers around five young adults balancing court-mandated community service and newly attained super powers, will be in good hands - Josh Schwartz’s to be specific.

According to New York Magazine, the creative mind behind "The O.C.," "Gossip Girl," and "Chuck" will be penning the U.S. adaption. He will have help from “Misfits” creator Howard Overman as far as authenticity, and an American “translation” (“Misfits” embraces nudity and profanity like a rap video).

But this won’t be “Misfits’” first American introduction; it was released on Hulu this past summer to millions of viewers.  It has been equally as popular in its native Britain. Airing on E4, “Misfits” took home the 2010 BAFTA award for best drama series. The third season is slated to begin in late October.

Audiences might have to wait a little longer for the U.S. adaptation though, as it is still looking for a home among networks. If all goes well, “Misfits” could be hitting American airwaves as soon as late 2012.
