Former Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi’s burial has been delayed pending an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death on Thursday.  The Associated Press reports that Gaddafi’s body is being held in a freezer at a shopping center in Misrata.

Crowds gathered outside the shopping center in an effort to see the body shouting “we want to see the dog.”

Gaddafi was captured alive in Sirte but video showed National Transitional Council fighters beating him and he was subsequently shot in the head and chest.  Officials in Libya’s interim government are investigating his death.

Gaddafi’s burial was scheduled to take place on Friday according to Islamic tradition but authorities are having a hard time deciding where to bury the deposed dictator.

A NATO report released on Friday stated airstrikes on Gaddafi’s convoy may have contributed to his capture and ultimate death.
