Drex Heikes To Step Down As LA Weekly Editor

L.A. Weekly's Editor in Chief Drex Heikes told his staff Monday that he will step down as editor of the city's last standing alt-weekly after just two years on the job, according to L.A. Observed.

Heikes joined the Weekly in 2009 after a successful stint as editor of the innovative Las Vegas Sun. He was part of a Pulitzer Prize-winning investigation at the Sun that detailed the unsafe -- and often lethal -- underbelly of the Las Vegas construction boom in the early 2000s. 

Heikes was also the former editor of the L.A. Times Magazine.
