FX, known for some of the most daring comedies on television, recently signed a deal acquiring Charlie Sheen’s new sitcom “Anger Management,” which received bids from at least three cable networks according to Hollywood Reporter.

Sheen’s role in the show is loosely based on Jack Nicholson’s character in the 2003 hit comedy movie “Anger Management,” and according to TMZ,  Sheen will portray a therapist with unconventional methods that wreak havoc on the lives of his patients.

FX has ordered 10 episodes of “Anger Management” from Lionsgate. If these initial airings achieve a certain ratings threshold, as many as 90 more episodes will be ordered and produced. This is called the “10-90” syndication model that was originally crafted for multiple Tyler Perry sitcoms.

According to Reuters, the president and general manager of FX Networks said that, “Two and a Half Men has been an outstanding component of FX’s schedule for the past 14 months, and we have every confidence that Anger Management will soon be as well.”

The release sent out Monday morning does not say when filming will start, as reported by the Los Angeles Times.
