Artist Domingo Zapata And Friends Showcase Works At Chateau Marmont
Spanish artist Domingo Zapata hosted a private viewing and reception of his work at Bungalow 1 at the Chateau Marmont hotel in Hollywood Tuesday night.

Along with Zapata's work, actor and painter Jordi Molla and artist Antonio Del Prete's works were also on display.
The three-story bungalow was adorned with very avant-garde and unique works of art. Messages such as "Oh, I love this song" and "Sorry we are full" were displayed on some of the artwork.
The prices of the artwork ranged from $3,000 for a painting by Molla to $125,000 for the painting "Grande Avion" by Zapata.
The vibe of the evening was described to be "plastic fantastic," both in regards to the artwork and the guests.
Appetizers such as artichoke-stuffed spinach and heirloom tomato pizza flowed through the room. Pristine bottles of wine and rosé made the the open bar look like another piece of artwork.
Actor Johnny Depp was also in attendance to support his friend. He seemed very deep in thought as he thoroughly checked out each piece of art with the artists.
In the wake of the illustrious success from his most recent movie, "Colombiana," Molla, known best for his scintillating roles in "Blow" and "Bad Boys II," showcased his recent work on canvas for the first time in the Hollywood Hills.
“These pieces are about gun shots, humor, and chaos,” the actor explained.

Molla’s creative prowess expresses itself across a variety of media: acting, film making, drawing, writing, and painting. However, it is his paintings which he has kept out of the spotlight until now.
Zapata, who planned on spending a brief two days in Los Angeles on his last visit ended up staying for two months at the Chateau Marmont.
He used the historic venue as a source of inspiration and backdrop for his latest works, which were featured at the reception.
Zapata, named an “artist to watch,” in a September 2011 editorial by the acclaimed Whitewall Magazine, introduced not only his new collection but also his first installation piece.
For over two decades, Zapata has built a body of work which has varied significantly in motif, though consistently exploring themes of sexuality, opulence, and vitality in his signature style. Zapata shared his first original installation, a 12-foot-long, LED illuminated ROCK STAR sign, painted, collaged and brimming with the energy of the artist.
Next stop for Zapata is the famous Art Basel in Miami Beach. His work will be featured at the Delano Hotel, where they will host a solo show for him. It is expected to be one of the hottest parties of the year.
