As we try and live a healthier and more organic lifestyle, the world of food has its temptations that easily stray us from maintaining our goals. It can be very difficult to find foods that we can enjoy, eat on a regular basis, and help detoxify bodily toxins. While various vegetables have numerous health benefits, the following foods help to simplify the cleansing process:

One of the best sources of fiber are flaxseeds. They are a great way to flush out the intestinal tract and receive omega-3 oils. A great way to incorporate them into your diet is to put them in your morning oatmeal or grind them up with lemon and olive oil as dressing over a salad.

Broccoli (especially broccoli sprouts) contains 20 times more sulfuraphane--an indirect antioxidant that defends against various diseases. It doesn’t matter whether you eat it raw, steamed, or cooked, its properties make it one of the best vegetables to detoxify. Try making a salad out of it or using it instead of lettuce to garnish a burger.

Different sea plants, including seaweed, have the delicious and convenient effect of strengthening the digestive tract and alkaline in the blood. These sea plants contain the broadest variety of minerals found in the ocean. Try other sea plants such as various forms of seaweed besides the kind wrapped around sushi.

The ways of the lemon are numerous! Its enzyme properties help to make toxins more water-soluble--not to mention they are just delicious. Drinking lemon water in the morning helps neutralize your body’s system. Why not squirt the lemon over the salad made from broccoli sprouts? The bounds are endless.

Our diets would not be complete without garlic. Yes, it may leave your breath smelling less than minty, but garlic is an antibiotic, antiseptic, and antiviral agent. It is an essential detoxifying agent that is incredibly delicious not only in pasta, but also in paste-form on top of an artichoke (another essential detoxifier).

Regardless of what you're eating now, try and add these different foods to amplify the nutritional value. Get creative--the more color that diversifies your plate, the more it contains vital vitamins and minerals. Your body's cleanliness will thank you later.
