Spring 2012 Fashion Week Beauty Trends: Runway To Real Way
Trend: Colored Eyes
Whether it's the bold blue seen at Monique Lhullier or Fendi's gilded eyes, color is a major trend this season. Blue and purple looks great on paler skin tones. In addition, green and coral pop on medium skin tones while gold and rose are gorgeous on darker skin tones. Wear it over your entire eyelid, as eyeliner, or as a sheer wash of color to instantly update your look. Since this is such a bold trend, leave the rest of your makeup neutral to showcase it.
Trend: Bold Brows
Strong, dark brows were highlighted at Altuzzara and Derek Lam this season, and full, sculpted brows are a spring must-have. Neat but natural brows frame the face, making it look more open, but above all avoid overdone or unnatural brows.
Trend: Dramatic Eyes
As the makeup at Gucci and Rodarte showed, the classic smoky eye isn't going anywhere. This look is probably too dramatic for day and is best saved for evening, but it is possible to create a toned-down, day-appropriate version by only applying eyeshadow in the corner and crease of the eye. Choose black, gray, or violet shadow to give this trend maximum impact, and since this is such a dramatic look it's best to leave the lips neutral.
Trend: Pink Lips
Seen at Milly and Betsey Johnson, a bright pink lip is a fresh update on fall's dark lip colors. Bright pink lipstick is a simple way to turn heads, but if such a vivid color seems too shocking try the same color in a sheer gloss. Bright pink lips will perk up an entire look with very little effort, no matter how this trend is worn.
