Ke$ha stormed LA Saturday night at the Gibson Amphitheater in Hollywood. Fans from around the area streamed into the venue, leaving passersby confused and disturbed by their crazy makeup, ripped tights, and feather-glitter combos.

The stage was set at 7:15pm tinted blood red, while the test puffs of smoke cued audience shrieks. Fans were ready to “get sleazzzyy,” but not until opening acts Spank Rock and LMFAO had their way with them.

Spank Rock got the somewhat reluctant audience up on their feet as the first opening act, but their performance paled in comparison to LMFAO’s.

Red lights morphed to purple as break dancers in neon paint slid on stage, followed by LMFAO front men Redfoo and SkyBlu… and inflatable zebras. They worked the crowd (so dubbed by the band as a “fellatio ratio” due to the number of women) with “Sorry for Party Rocking” and gratuitous hip thrusting.

“I’m in Miami Bitch” turned into “I’m in LA Bitch” and the set transformed into what was described by a fan as “a frat party on stage”. Palm trees and beach balls were thrown on stage and a now insane crowd was doused by water hoses by the band.

Their new single, “Sexy and I Know It,” which they described as not just a song but an attitude, was next—and they had the swag to back it up. The LMFAO boys quickly upstaged their robot backup dancer, rockin’ a new wardrobe.

A shimmery speedo and a speedo in the form of an elephant—yes, trunk and all—blinded the audience almost even more than the lights. A panda man danced onstage during “La La La” and fans watched as the boys drank onstage through a funnel during crowd favorites “Party Rock” and “Shots.”

The guitar solo at the end was ear-splitting, but overall they proved to everyone that LMFAO was much more than just “Party Rock”.

At this point, fans were getting antsy. LMFAO rocked it, but Ke$ha was far from forgotten.  After a few false starts, a blackout signaled her arrival—and the crowd was so thunderous that it was surprising the opening lines of “Sleazy” were even heard.

Like an illusion to hundreds of fans that had been waiting hours, Ke$ha lit up the stage in a bedazzled bodysuit and glowing goggles. “Ready to get sleazy?” she screamed, and demanded that the crowd be their worst behavior for the night. They were more than willing to oblige.

Though Ke$ha was much more high pitched live than expected, and at times was even shrieking, this only fueled the audience. After “Fuck Him (He’s The DJ)”, which was energetic but a bit disappointing, “Blow” put things back where they should’ve been as Ke$ha streamed glitter onto the audience from multiple glitter cannons. “Blah Blah Blah” supplied glitter drums and “Party at a Rich Dude’s House” killed the place as Ke$ha ran around stage, tumbling, kicking at will, and demolishing lawn chairs. 

“Backstabber” was ridiculous, featuring Ke$ha-like male cross-dressers with long blond wigs, pushing each other around and dancing on each other.

 “Cannibal” reaffirmed the fact that this was no PG show as she ate a “heart,” drank “blood,” and pretty much devoured a male effigy.

Things slowed down though with her favorite song, “Animal” and the emotional “Harold Song,” which provided the perfect break for the audience to sit back and realize Ke$ha could actually sing, sans auto tune and infectious dance beats.

After bringing the energy back up with “Dinosaur,” Ke$ha sat down on a lawn chair and drank a beer while she told the audience about her next song, “Grow a Pear.” She then pulled a boy out of the audience, and when learning he was 19, exclaimed “He’s legal!” and tied him to a chair. They were promptly joined on stage by a dancing pear and three dancing testicles.

Ke$ha then exited, but the fans wouldn’t have it. After chanting her name and an appearance by two fighting cross dressers, Ke$ha came out for what was definitely a planned encore. “We R Who We R” brought the concert, but not the night, to a close as Ke$ha screamed, “It’s Saturday….go get laid!”

LMFAO swagged it up and Ke$ha was a fun, crazy performer and as trashy fabulous as you’d expect.

It was less of a show and more of a bitchin’ party.
