In a last-ditch effort to push through her proposed redistricting plan, Los Angeles County Supervisor Gloria Molina will present expert Voting Rights Act testimony at the L.A. County meeting today, according to a media alert released by Molina's office Tuesday morning.

The meeting today includes the final vote on the county redistricting plans. Three controversial plans have been proposed, two of which would make way for the second Latino-majority district.

One of those plans comes from Molina, who became the county's first Latino supervisor two decades ago after a court case regarding the Voting Rights Act paved the way for the county's first Latino-majority district.

The Voting Rights Act outlaws discriminatory voting practices.

According to the press release, Molina's expert testimony will come from a number of professors (Prof. Joaquin Avila, Prof. Matt Barreto, Prof. Gary Orfield), Arturo Vargas (executive director of the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials), Rhonda Ortiz (project manager for the USC Program for Environmental and Regional Equity), Sylvia Mendez (desegregation activist), Irma Munoz (executive director of Mujeres de la Tierra), David De Mers (San Gabriel Conservation Corps) and Claire Robinson (executive director of Amigos de los Rios).
