LinkedIn members and employees were in the audience at the town hall meeting and LinkedIn members throughout the country have sent in questions for Obama.

LinkedIn CEO Jeff Weiner told Mercury News that questions for Obama were coming in one every five seconds Friday morning. Weiner said LinkedIn will pick questions that represent members’ concerns about Obama’s $447 billion job plan to ask the president.

Obama opened the town hall meeting talking about his jobs plan and complimenting the Silicon Valley’s “driving spirit that has made America a superpower,” USA Today reports.

He then answered questions about Medicare and Social Security, promising that both will be available to attendees’ parents.

Obama told LinkedIn members that passing his jobs bill is the best way to ensure jobs for them in future.

Audience members also asked about what Obama has done to help small businesses.

"We have cut taxes for small businesses 16 times since I've been in office. They are able to get tax breaks for hiring, for investments in capital improvements, for hiring veterans. There should be no capital gains tax on a startup,'' Mercury News reports Obama answering.

The president said that the current state of the economy is not a result of poor education in the U.S., but of other countries education rising to our standards.

"When we were at our peak it was in large part because we were doing a better job than anyone else in the world in training our workers. The rest of the world is catching up," USA Today reports. Now, India and China college graduation rates are increasing while the rate in the U.S. is not.

To get America back on top, though, Obama said he planned to focus more on math and science programs.

Obama also talked about services for veterans and his plan to raise taxes on the rich.

Obama is on a three-day West Coast campaign. Voice of America says he is expected to raise millions of dollars in donations before Friday, a quarterly fundraising deadline that shows how he fares against Republican competitors.

GOP leaders met for a town hall meeting at Facebook Monday as well. The president and Republicans are presenting their agendas to the internet to win over young voters, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
