Notable Celebrity Fashion Collaborations

Sofia by Sofia Vergara
Colombian TV host, model and actress Sofia Vergara became a household name when Americans fell in love with her colorful Modern Family character Gloria Delgado-Pritchett. Vergara’s Kmart line captures the spirit of the always sexy and eccentric Gloria. At first glance, the marriage of Kmart and the Colombian diva seems bizarre and indeed, the looks are a definite departure from other Kmart fare. Vergara's line features curve-hugging tops, plunging necklines, leopard and leather. As it turns out, Vergara shares Gloria's affinity for head-turning glamour.
This leopard bustier dress is one of the signature pieces of the Sofia line. Its flattering ribbing and shapely silhouette celebrate curves. Vergara told Fashionista that she constantly considered the fabrics in her designs to ensure that the clothes would be wearable and flattering on a wide range of women. Still, I wouldn't advise buying the pieces before taking them for a spin in the dressing room. Afterall, Vergara is a novice designer.
Some steals that are worth checking out: the $30 dollar jegging jeans Sofia says will uplift any woman’s booty and spirits, and the leather zipper miniskirt paired with an animal print and lace top.
Sofia for Kmart looks are flirtatious and affordable. Vergara was inspired to design clothes the average woman would want and be able to put in her closet. “I want women to be able to buy the Kmart clothes and look [at the clothes in] the magazines and say, ‘aaah, this looks a little bit like the dress that I own for twenty bucks, but of course it’s a $3,000 dress,” she said. Sexy Sofia Vergara style for $20 dollars? Don’t be surprised if you see some sassy Gloria-look-alikes traipsing down the streets in leopard and leather this fall.
Alexa Chung For Madewell
On the opposite end of the fashion spectrum lies Alexa Chung and her collaboration with Madewell. The British model, TV personality and Vogue editor is the ultimate cool girl and her designs live up to her hype. The Alexa Chung for Madewell line is not Kmart cheap, but it features lust-worthy fall staples well worth a splurge.
The collection features the quintessential Alexa Chung look: smart dresses and tomboy pieces mixed with the latest trends. There’s always an unexpected element, an effortless edge.
Chung epitomizes chic in her suede pixie jacket and wide leg trousers, a trend the fashion world has recycled for this fall. Note the subtle edge of the jacket's metal hardware and its ridiculous price: $500 dollars. Less out of reach are Chung’s brilliantly colorful button down silk tops.
Perhaps the most daring piece by Chung is the pajama pant that she pairs with a chunky knit sweater.
Another favorite: this sexy lace and leather look, a smart combination of two major fall trends. Think texture, brights and a touch of whimsy.
Chung’s looks are daring and fresh. Fans of the it-girl will be pleased to see that the clothes are true to her personal style. Her shift dresses, cozy knits, and impressive line up of accessories may not be within the average twenty-something’s budget but they serve as inspiration at the very least.
