“The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” fans have a couple reasons to be excited. Columbia Pictures debuted a new, extended trailer and a TV spot for the film, giving more information on the characters, relationships, and storylines at play.

The story surrounds journalist Mikael Blomkvist's quest to find a woman who has been missing for forty years. The search quickly turns into something bigger (I won't spoil it for those who haven't read the books or seen the original movies), and Blomkvist enlists the aid of Lisbeth Salander, a young computer hacker and tech genius with some serious issues of her own.

“The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo”  is directed by Oscar-nominee David Fincher, and stars Daniel Craig as Mikael Blomkvist, Rooney Mara as Lisbeth Salander, and Christopher Plummer as Henrik Vanger. Stellan Skarsgård, Steven Berkoff, Robin Wright, Yorick van Wageningen and Joely Richardson also star.

“The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” opens in theatres Dec. 21, and is the first of a three-picture-adaptation of “The Millenium Trilogy” by Stieg Larsson.
