Among the nominees for Outstanding Comedy Series, it is tough to say which show will saunter off with an Emmy tonight. Out of the six nominees, “The Office” is the first nominee that immediately comes to mind as a possible winner.  NBC”S “The Office” has received nominations for Outstanding Comedy Series every year since the show proved victorious in the category in 2006. This season, however, has weakened the show’s popularity and sustainability due to the loss of its lead actor, Steve Carell, who played the manager of Dunder Mifflin, Michael Scott. This monumental change for the show has allowed it to be overshadowed by new nominees.

“Glee,” a show following a stellar Glee club of vocally blessed high school students, was a hopeful nominee for this category last year as well. However, “Glee” brings up serious issues among the lives of adolescents as well as offering a good laugh. During moments concentrating on issues such as homophobic bullying, it’s hard to believe that the Emmys categorize it as simply a comedy. All definitions aside, the hype for “Glee” seems to have waned this past season. The devoted viewers of the show, commonly known as “Gleeks”, may be disappointed at the Emmys once again.

Rising above the rest, “Modern Family” should be the final victor in this year’s comedy category. “Modern Family” disappointed both “Glee” and “The Office” last year when it took home the 2010 Emmy for comedy. The show is on its third season and its popularity is constantly increasing. Its concentration on how hilariously chaotic a family can be, no matter whom the parents are and how many kids they have, makes it a favorite for an array of audiences. “Modern Family” is on its way to being the winner of the Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series for its second year in a row.
