L.A. Preps For Obama Traffic Jam
The Angeleno anxiety is fueled by the looming traffic jam doom expected to hit West Hollywood due to Obama’s attendance of two high-profile fundraisers.
L.A. drivers are scarred from Obama’s infamous visits last August and April, which left the city in gridlock and sparked the term “Obamajam.”
This year, the city is warning drivers to avoid the danger zone of West Hollywood or to escape the chaos by taking a break from driving altogether.
Obama is expected to arrive at LAX around 4:40 p.m., where he will travel to the House of Blues on Sunset Strip for a fundraiser, followed by another fundraiser at Fig and Olive on Melrose Place at La Cienega Boulevard.
To dodge L.A. traffic on steroids, steer clear from not only West Hollywood, but surrounding areas such as Beverly Hills, until Obama’s departure Tuesday morning.
The L.A. County Sheriff’s Department said the following streets will be affected:
-Sunset Boulevard (from Doheny Drive to Sweetzer Avenue)
-Santa Monica Boulevard (from Doheny Drive to La Cienega Boulevard)
-Olive Drive (from Sunset Boulevard to Santa Monica Boulevard)
-Holloway Drive (front Sunset Boulevard to La Cienega Boulevard)
-La Cienega (from Sunset to Rosewood Avenue)
-Fountain Avenue (from La Cienega Boulevard to Sweetzer Avenue)
-Delongpre Avenue (from Fountain Avenue to Flores Street)
-San Vicente Boulevard (between Santa Monica Boulevard and Melrose Avenue) closed from 6 a.m. Monday until noon Tuesday
