The Consul General of Japan, Junichi Ihara, thanked Southern California Wednesday night for supporting his country after the devastating March 11 earthquake and tsunami.  The tribute event, called "Arigato" -- "thank you" in Japanese -- was hosted by the Japanese American Cultural & Community Center in Little Tokyo

Los Angeles Deputy Mayor Aileen Adams, Mayor Ronald Loveridge of Riverside, and Los Angeles City Councilwoman Jan Perry all expressed their care and concern for Japan's progress since the biggest earthquake in its history.

The audience enjoyed free Japanese snacks, musical performances, and stories read aloud by the speakers.  Guitarist Nanka Yutaro played Japanese songs on his guitar, bringing the crowd to a passionate applause.
