Apple is expected to release its next generation iPhone at an Oct. 4 event at its headquarters, Mashable reported Tuesday morning.

Tech editors Jacob Chung and Ankit Tyagi dug through the rumors and musings to figure out exactly what users can expect in an iPhone 5.

This will likely be the first iPhone unveiling that doesn't feature Steve Jobs, who stepped down recently as Apple's chief executive officer.

That will be 16 months between the release of the iPhone 4 and and iPhone 5.
