The "Hart of Dixie" premiere shows the beginnings of a promising series, with Rachel Bilson as a lovable lead who will drag viewers in with her sass, humor and charm.

Zoe Hart (Rachel Bilson) had a plan, but when the man of her dreams dumps her and she does not get recommended for a high-profile medical fellowship, everything changes. She takes an elderly doctor, Harley, up on his offer for a job at his small town practice to work on her severely lacking bedside manner, and leaves the Big Apple for Blue Belle, Alabama.

The fast talking New Yorker experiences some Southern hospitality right off the bat, when the town lawyer George Tucker (Scott Porter) gives her a ride into town. This seems ripe for romance, even though George is engaged to a Southern belle.

Zoe soon discovers Harley died and left half of his practice to her, but the doctor who owns the other half wants nothing to do with a Yankee outsider. After granting a blind man who memorized the eye chart permission to drive and quickly learning Blue Belle is not the place for her, she is ready to give up her share of the practice.

Right before Zoe leaves to catch a flight back to New York, a young woman in the town calls her in pain, which Zoe soon finds out is contractions. There is no time to rush to the hospital, so Zoe delivers the baby. Although this success shows she can be a general practitioner in a small town, Zoe is still set to leave Blue Belle until she learns the truth behind why she is there. Harley was Zoe’s father.

She stays to learn more about her father and hopefully find herself along the way.

Bilson brings the same stuck-up sass that made her “O.C.” character Summer Roberts so hilarious. Seasoned actors, like Cress Williams (“Friday Night Lights”) and Jaime King (“Sin City”), also play well off her snippy one-liners.

This show is sure to win the hearts of devoted “Gossip Girl,” “Gilmore Girls,” and “The O.C.” fans with its mixture of witty writing and relatable coming-of-age plot.

Watch "Hart of Dixie" Monday's at 9 p.m. on the CW.
