Gaddafi Security Chief Flees Libya

A head security honcho for embattled Libyan strongman Muammar Gaddafi has fled the war-torn country for Niger, reports said Tuesday.

The security chief, Mansour Dhao, reportedly arrived in Niger with a large convoy of military vehicles.

Niger has offered refuge to the ousted dictator. A French military source decried Niger's support of the regime in an interview with Al-Jazeera, saying the country should "not side with the enemy of the Libyan people."

This comes after reports last week that Gaddafi's wife and three of his children had fled to Algeria.

Gaddafi's whereabouts are still unknown, and reports suggest that the manhunt is becoming more urgent, if uncoordinated.

From the Washington Post:

"Libyans involved in the hunt say they are not getting much help from NATO, despite the alliance’s state-of-the-art electronic and aerial surveillance methods. Instead, they are relying on a deluge of human intelligence from informers and witnesses, but seem to be struggling to sift, process and share all the information that is coming in.
