Daily Hollywood - Reese Witherspoon Takes A Hit, Madonna Loathes Hydrangeas, and More
In a match made in gleefully addictive television heaven, Sex and the City author Candace Bushnell and Gossip Girl producer Josh Safran are teaming up together for a new show on ABC, One Fifth Avenue. The series will follow a columnist as she regroups after separating from her husband. Melodrama will ensue. (The Hollywood Reporter)
Third time’s the charm? Singer Neil Diamond has been married twice before, but he announced his proposal to co-manager Katie McNeil. Best of wishes to the to-be newlyweds (US Weekly)
NBC reporter Andrea Mitchell, a mainstay on the outlet’s primetime news as well as other shows, announced that she has breast cancer. Mitchell has been an active supporter of and participator in the Susan G. Koman Race for the Cure, and credits early screening with catching the disease in its treatable stage. (EW)
Oh Madonna: a video recently leaked of her accepting a fan’s gift of flowers and then turning to someone and murmuring “I absolutely loathe hydrangeas," and the pop idol’s been under fire for callousness ever since. To be fair, the video omits the part where she says “But he couldn’t possibly have known that.” Still, it’s never difficult to believe that privileged people will say snobby and ridiculous things. Even better is her publicist’s response: “She's entitled to like any flower she wants and she didn't want to hurt the feeling of the hydrangeas of the world.” Watch the original video below.
