Despite both a new round of rumors that Chris Christie was mulling a run for president and continued support from some influential Republicans, the New Jersey governor is not interested in entering the GOP field, Fox News reported Tuesday.

Christie has been seen by some Republicans as the missing piece on a list of Republican presidential hopefuls that has each struggled to maintain stable footing with about 13 months until the general election pits one of them against President Barack Obama.

Christie comes to L.A. Tuesday evening to deliver a speech on "Real American Exceptiontionalism" at the Reagan Library in Simi Valley.

"Today, the biggest challenge we must meet is the one we present to ourselves," he will say in his speech, according to excerpts. "To not become a nation that places entitlement ahead of accomplishment. To not become a country that places comfortable lies ahead of difficult truths. To not become a people that thinks so little of ourselves that we demand no sacrifice from each other. We are a better people than that; and we must demand a better nation than that.”
