Chicago Blackhawks' beloved forward Patrick Sharp had an emergency appendectomy Monday.

Expected to be out of commission for three to four weeks, Sharp will likely miss all of the pre-season and possibly the opening game against the Dallas Stars on October 7. Training camp begins this Saturday for the Hawks, where they hope their other star player, Patrick Kane, will be ready to join them after his wrist surgery early this summer.

Sharp, 29, is a key player in Chicago's organization, posting 34 goals, 37 assists, 71 points and 38 PIM in 74 games played last season. Sharp also recently signed a five-year contract extension in August that will keep him in Chicago through the 2016-2017 season.

He was also on the cover of Chicago Magazines "50 Most Beautiful Chicagoans" in 2011.
